Friday Feature- Sophia Dorozio Art

I met Sophia back when we were awkward, gangly teenagers... and we have been close buds ever since! We have been through many adventures together and even worked together shooting weddings way back in the day. If you have been to my massage studio, you'll have seen several pieces of her ocean and beach inspired art. She has always been a great example to me of following your passions - she is an amazing artist, photographer, and also a busy mom to three little kiddos.

What do you do for work and what inspired you to pursue your career path?

I am an artist and photographer. I always loved making stuff as a kid and naturally loved art throughout school. Art studies eventually lead to a degree in Graphic Design but I landed back in painting several years ago and now focus mostly on painting and photography.

What gets you excited to wake up in the morning?

Not a morning person so the idea of a hot coffee is a pretty bright spot in my morning fog :)

What books and/or podcasts are you into right now?

I have several partly read books going on right now but the last book I finished was Where The Crawdads Sing and it was such a good one. I like listening to podcast about artists and their practices as it gets me inspired to get painting - The Jealous Curator is one of my regular podcasts as the Artist Mother, and for general listening I like This American Life

What are you most excited for this summer?

This is a tough one as so much has changed recently. Typically Summer is my jam, but with the world being in such a state of limbo during the pandemic I find myself living more day by day. I do have to say now that days are warmer I am loving all the outdoors time and even managed to paint outside a few times which felt so dang good!
