Friday Feature- Janelle Juss, Physiotherapist

I met Janelle a few years ago when I sprained my ankle and needed a physio. She was so kind and helpful in my recovery and so she is now my go to Physiotherapist for all my needs! She has also become a friend and I love following her instagram where she not only posts helpful tips but also snippets of her life, dancing and travels.

What do you do for work and what inspired you to pursue your career path?

I am a Physiotherapist working in private practice. This career was and still is appealing to me because it gives me privilege to work closely with people. I am able to really get to know my patients and help them remain in activities that mean the most to them. I have always enjoyed learning about the human body and how its' systems work together. Being in a position to share this knowledge and educate my patients has been very rewarding.

What gets you excited to wake up in the morning?

I get excited to enjoy a cup of tea in my living room. I have an extensive collection of tea and I do look forward to that decision each day! I also look forward to connecting everyday with my husband and my friends.

What books and/or podcasts are you into right now?

I’ve been listening to the podcast The Life Coach School. A great listen to learn how to get the most out of your life through inner work and  changing your mindset! They are usually 30 minute episodes, so they are easy to digest and implement.  I also love audiobooks from the library. I usually listen to a book a week! I have 2 standouts this year so far. 1) City Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert, a fictional story based in the 1940’s in NYC. 2) Talking to Strangers by Malcom Gladwell, covering a wide variety of topics and some very interesting research. I feel both these books were enhanced because of the way they were read, so I would recommend listening vs reading them!

What are you most excited for this summer?

This summer I am looking forward to hiking, backcountry camping with girlfriends, exploring the city by bike and enjoying Calgary's breweries. I would like try mountain biking this summer!

You can find Janelle working at Peak Health & Performance in Calgary, AB. I highly recommend her if you are looking for a physio. Follow her on instagram at www.instagram.com/janelle_peakphysio.
